Colby Ferris focuses her practice in the areas of products liability and premises liability. Prior to joining McDonald Toole Wiggins, P.A., she practiced civil defense representing automobile insurance companies, school boards, housing developers, and other insurers. She has defended a variety of claims including civil rights claims, Florida constitutional claims, automobile accidents, bullying claims, premises liability, wrongful death, and HOA claims. Colby is dedicated to achieving the best result for her clients by taking an active role in the litigation from start to finish, recognizing and analyzing the nuances of each case, identifying issues that may arise at trial, and effectively communicating with clients, opposing counsel, witnesses, and the court.
Colby graduated summa cum laude from Barry University School of Law, where she finished third in her class. Prior to that, she received her Bachelor of Science in Journalism cum laude from the University of Florida. While in law school, she served as Executive Editor of the Law Review and competed in national and state Moot Court competitions. In 2009, she was inducted into the National Order of the Scribes based on her outstanding legal writing and had her article on the Communications Decency Act chosen for publication. In 2010, she was awarded the ALI-ABA Scholarship and Leadership award for her work at Barry. Following law school, her passion for writing took her to the Public Defender’s Office Appellate Division, where her practice concentrated on appeals.
